So Lijit
So I’ve been on this “add useful stuff to my blog” kick lately. Based on my stats, you, dear reader, are probably reading this on an RSS feed so you probably haven’t seen the new additions. I’ve added a label cloud, thanks to the work by phydeaux3. I’m working on getting the instructions for that into a widget that can be easily added to Blogger.
I’ve also added search functionality powered by Lijit. If you haven’t heard of Lijit, you should definitely go check them out. The thing about Lijit search is that you can set your search wijit to search all your content. Oh hai, do you have a blog, twitter, flickr, myspace, and facebook like I do? Having one place to search all that stuff is so handy, plus it allows site visitors to explore beyond the bounds of the page they’re on. Content without borders!
Okay Lijit is cool right? Allow me to introduce you to Lijit’s awesomeness. If you came to this site from a search engine, you probably noticed a little box right below my header that offered you more content based on your search query. Oh yes, that little box (they call it Re-Search) is also powered by Lijit.
All that plus shareable stats, easy configuration, and warm fuzzy staff (the kind that reach out to you when you post a twitter message about the slightest unhappiness). Free. Yes I sound like a car salesman but whatever, Lijit is greatness and oh! bonus! powered by Google. If you’re a blogger, you should try it out. If you have a website you should try it out. If you are neither, you should come to my site and try it out. Actually you should be visiting my site anyhow but no need to split hairs.
