As I was just perusing Amazon.com, I noticed something new. Yep, that is the ability to search only for items that are Prime eligible. I don’t know when this appeared but it had to be recently as I’m a frequent Amazon shopper (thank you Prime).

There are numerous sites out there that have tried to allow people to search for Prime items on Amazon but most of them were clunky and and returned poor results. Amazon was clearly listening to its users with this addition.

Looking at URL’s, I found that the variable that controls the Prime search is “%2Cp_76%3A1″. I can’t form my own URLs with it (yet) as it has to be formatted just so. However, I have come up with my favorite Prime Search links to get you started:

All Prime Eligible Toys & Games

All Prime Eligible Toys and Games under $10 (I call this the Auntie Special since I can rack up gifts for cheap!)

DVD Collection Builder (All Prime Eligible DVD’s rated 4 stars and up)

Amazon still doesn’t show an “Add to Wish List” button for Kindle books but you can get around their silliness.

Step 1: Create a new wish list (Kindle Wish List works)

Step 2: Add the Universal Wish List button to your browser.

Step 3: Browse to a Kindle book of your choosing (allow me to recommend The Story of Edgar Sawtelle or The Other Boleyn Girl)

Step 4: Press the Add to Wish List button (this is what was created in Step 2) and select your Kindle Wish List in the window the pops up.

Step 5: Press OK!

The only caveat is that people still can’t buy Kindle books for you (thanks Amazon) but at least you can show off how much of an avid reader you aspire to be.

Yes, I should be putting together furniture instead of writing this. I’m going, I’m going!

Thanks to Adam tagging me, I am writing a rare list sort of blog post. Loyal 26 readers, this is a once in a blue moon thing, promise. On with the list…

Up until I was about 15 (1995), I always thought I’d be a lawyer. After that point, I was focused on working with computers. You remember 1995, right? The beginning of those beautiful days leading up to the dot com bust? Funny thing though, even after the bust, I still wanted to work with computers.

During school, I worked on an Army post and I was married for about a year and a half to a guy in the Army. I can say, with conviction, that the US Army does not give a hot damn about the families of it’s soldiers. Despite the propaganda that they attempt to force on soldiers and their families (how many “Soldiers and Families First” posters did I frame?) they would rather all the soldiers be single.

I hate flying. Well not so much the flying part as the idea that the plane could fall out of the sky due to any one seemingly minuscule thing that can cause extremely bad things to happen. Yes, yes, my chances of being in a car accident are greater than my chances of being in a plane that crashes. However, my chances of living after said car accident are far greater than my chances of living after a plane crash.

Getting my job at Google was kind of a fluke. I was on Craigslist looking for something random (I’m always scouring for old computers and good deals) and decided to look at the jobs section. I saw Google was hiring in Atlanta and I said “Oooo cool,” sent my resume in and here I am today.

I wasn’t born in the United States and for a while I had dual citizenship with the country I was born in. I got rid of it when I had some issues with financial aid in college. What I mean by issues is “We don’t think you’re a citizen of the US, therefore you can’t have financial aid.” Silly, yes. However arguing with people in power who think they’re right can take a long time, time I didn’t have.

Welp there is my 5. I will now pass the torch on to…

Gayle
Darla
CJ
Liz
AG

BTW Amazon fixed their mess. Finally.

Dear Amazon,

I think you’re pretty cool. I love that during this time of year, I can easily point people to my Amazon Wish List when they ask “What do you want for Christmas?” Thanks for that. I love that you surmised that maybe I’d like to beat people to the punch and showed them what I wanted before I even had to ask. RSS feeds of Wish Lists? Awesome, really. Then when I thought it couldn’t get better, you created a Wish List widget that I could just stick in a web page. In Flash format, no less, so that I could put it on my MySpace page too. I almost wanted to marry you then, Amazon. I say almost because you’re a tease. You go and wave your shiny widget in front of me, enticing me, then you laugh as I try to use it. I tried to talk to you about it. I wanted to make things work. You, however, tried to tell me that pretty little thing you were waving around wasn’t yours.[1] So now, Amazon, I’m writing you this letter. I doubt it will get through to you but it’s my last chance. I want us to get through this Amazon, I really do. I don’t want to start seeing others for my Wishlist sharing needs.
